Church of Saint Mary

Church of Saint Mary urmia today called the church of the east Assyrian, located in Khayyam Street, on 08.22.1362 and numbered 1649 in the national index have been registered. According to traditions and historical resources of Assyrians, three of the Zoroastrian priests who were predicting the birth of Prophet Jesus Christ (PBUH) after the departure to Bethlehem and knowledge of the birth of the prophet of god, the location of the temple was turned into a church so is the church one of the monuments of the first century AD. The church has a square plan and solid foundation it is built of stone and mortar and form arches and a dome covering it confirms the historical period of the Sassanid era.
